Terrell Hodnett
Terrell Hodnett, 70, of Norton, Virginia, passed away on June 4, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Terrell was a steady and dependable presence in the lives of those who knew him. He showed his love not through grand gestures or words, but through quiet action—providing for his family and showing up when it counted. He lived a life marked by responsibility, loyalty, and strength.
Terrell retired after a long career as an accountant and spent his retirement years finding joy on the road—traveling the country by camper with his wife, Loretta, and close friends. He made sure to catch every Alabama game wherever they happened to be visiting and proudly bragged that both of his daughters graduated from the school he loved to cheer for.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta Hodnett; his children, Stephanie Childree (Phil), Stephen Hodnett (Hayley), and Nicole Hodnett; his granddaughter, Christin Strickland (Brandon); and his great-granddaughter, Aspyn Hope Strickland. He also leaves behind his siblings: Tiny Ruth Smith, Shirley Harkins, Etta Gortney, Kenneth Hester (Margie), Virginia Milstead (James), and Lucy McVey (Ralph). His presence will also be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Brown; his father, Lowell Hodnett; and his mother, Ivera Warren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at New Fellowship Baptist Church in his hometown of Lineville, Alabama. Family and friends are invited to come celebrate a life well lived and well loved.
