Thelma Kay Williams

Big Stone Gap, VA – Thelma Kay Williams, 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Norton Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Kay lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap. She was a cafeteria monitor and cook at Powell Valley Primary School for several years. She often shared her love of children by paying for lunch trays for the less fortunate. She loved working on jigsaw puzzles, painting by numbers and crossword puzzles. Member of Living Waters Ministry in the Jasper Community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amous and Irene (King) Ferrell and three brothers, Calvin Ferrell, Monte Ferrell, and Keith Ferrell.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Hartsock (Chad) of Dryden, Va., Jennifer Pannell (Justin) of Big Stone Gap, Va; her loving soul mate of 54 years Charles “Junior” Williams; several nieces and nephews; her grandpups, “Chloe” and “Sofie”; and feline buddies, “Tom” and “Grace”
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Renfro and his staff for their loving care.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm
at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap, Va. Funeral Service will follow with Pastor Billy Wells officiating.
Graveside services will be Monday, June 2, 2025 at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, 5650 Powell Valley Road, Big Stone Gap, Va. at 11:00 am. Friends are asked to assemble at Gilliam Funeral Home by 10:20am to travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Hartsock, Justin Pannell, Harley Davidson, Sebastian Davidson, Doug Davidson and Jody Davidson. Rachel Davidson will serve as honorary pallbearer.
