Big Stone Gap, VA – William “Bud” Hurd passed away Friday, February 28, 2020, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Axley and Ella Hurd; sister, Wilma Blakemore and brothers, John David Hurd and Danny Hurd. 

    Surviving are his children, Marty Hurd (Marsha), Eddie Hurd (Tammy), Anthony Hurd (Brenda) and Angela Swecker (Jay), and Rodney Hurd (Gussie) all of Kingsport, TN; siblings, Patricia Watkins of Big Stone Gap and Cathy Clark of Pennington Gap, mother of his children, Doris Calton, a special nephew, Tim Watkins (Karen) of Big Stone Gap; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews. A special thanks to his caregiver, Raymond Collier. 

    The family will receive friends for visitation and viewing on Monday, March 2, 2020, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W, Big Stone Gap. Funeral Services will follow in the chapel at 7:00pm with Pastor James Holcomb officiating. 

    Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 1:00pm at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens with Cotton Gardner officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at Gilliam Funeral Home to leave in procession at 12:30pm.
