Duffield, Va.-William Harold “Dolly” Willis, 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Born in Arno, Virginia, he lived a majority of his life in the Jasper Community of Lee County, Va. He was a retired coal miner with the Westmoreland Coal Company and a member of the U.M.W.A. He loved fishing. He was a member of Jasper Central Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kate (Rogers) Willis; his parents, James A. and Aldora (Owens) Willis; sisters, Verna Carrier (Fred), Dorothy Sturgill (Charles), Lois Hurley (Doug), Alice Lane, Loretta Huff and Eveleyn “Sis” Qualls (Bill); and his brother, James A. Willis, Jr.
Surviving are his daughter, Donna Reist (Teddy), Duffield; son, William H. Willis, Jr. (Gwen), Talbot, Tn.; three grandsons, Logan, Nathan and Westan Willis; sisters, Charlotte Farr and Eva Jean Ball (Kenneth); brothers-in-law, Larry Lane and Kenneth Ball; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5:00pm – 7:00pm Friday, December 15, 2023, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap and 12:00pm – 1:00pm Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Jasper Central Baptist Church, 136 Jasper Road, Duffield, Va. The service will follow at 1:00pm Saturday with Pastor Wayne Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow at American Legion Cemetery in Big Stone Gap.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
